Insight
For this project, I designed a logo for Dubai of the United Arab Emirates. Upon research, Dubai is one of the most wealthiest countries in the world. The reason for its wealth, was the pearl industry. Pearl diving was the foundation and the growth of Dubai, and was the main source of income for many of the locals. Since then, Dubai has grown and built some astounding architecture. I wanted to capture that wealth, beauty, and the history of Dubai and how it became what it is today.
Dubai's Current State
Dubai is one of six emirates of the United Arab Emirates and in today's world, is well known for their abundant wealth, luxury shopping, lively nightlife, and state-of-the-art architecture such as the Burj Khalifa.
Noted History
It was once a small fishing village had a population of around 700-800 members of the Bani Yas tribe. Unlike its neighboring regions, oil is not their main source they focus on. For centuries, from the 1770’s to the late 1930’s, the UAE were reliant on the pearl industry to provide its income. Apart from growing wealthier in the pearl industry, it was the ceneter for the Gulf and African trade.
Logo Inspiration
Dubai's Astounding Architecture
The Burj Khalifa has been one of the major inspiration to my log design. Upon research, Dubai's Burj Khalifa is THE tallest building in the world, and is not only well-known for its height, but becuase of its significance to the growth of Dubai, and of its unique architecture.
Where it all Started
Alongside the inspiration from the Burj Khalifa, there was more to what I have researched about Dubai and its history. It was the free trade that allowed them to become a wealthy state. From the 1770’s up until the late 1930’s, the pearl industry was the main source of income in the Trucial States, which is now the United Arab Emirates.
